As a young organization, at COP28 we were able to make significant and concrete steps towards engaging private sector and mobilizing capital to support the Great Green Wall Initiative.

 This year’s COP is a defining moment for COP of Actions. This year is all about “stop starting and starting finishing”, which is what the world needs now if we must achieve our 2030 goals.

Many real actions were taken and commitments were made across the board to take decisive actions to move the needle on the 2030 agenda.

As a young organization, we were able to make significant and concrete steps towards engaging private sector and mobizing capital to support the Great Green Wall Initiative.

1. We announced ECOGREEN Capital, a global fund targeting $1B in Assets Under Management that will invest in funds, enterprises, and industrial projects that address urgent sustainability challenge sand that are thematically aligned with the mission of GGWoA. ECOGREEN will deploy capital through four vehicles that will be regulated in the US, the UK, and the UAE.

2. We announced the launching of an exciting project, Women’s Development Banking, which will leverage the power of technology and finance, to create opportunities for women to access affordable healthcare services, quality education, and the financial resources necessary for entrepreneurship and economic empowerment through partnership with World Health Innovation Summit CIC, Orora, LG Nova Capital Alliance and Ecogreen Capital Fund.

3. We co-hosted a Presidential panel with African Union on African to discussed the Action 46 of the Nairobi Declaration to Develop concrete plan to accelerate African Union’s action plan for the Great Green Wall.

4. We signed an MOU with Royal PCB Group, member of the United Capital Group Consortium to provide material resource to facilitate reforestation through sustainable agriculture that reduces water consumption while improving overall yield.

5. We aligned with Pan-African Agency of Great Green Wall and African Union to take decisive concrete action together to deliver key results for the Great Green Wall Initiative in 2024.
