COP28 Retrospective
This year’s COP is a defining moment for COP of Actions. This year is all about “stop starting and starting finishing”, which is what the world needs now if we must achieve our 2030 goals.
Many real actions were taken and commitments were made across the board to take decisive actions to move the needle on the 2030 agenda.
As a young organization, we were able to make significant and concrete steps towards engaging private sector and mobilizing capital to support the Great Green Wall Initiative.

GGWoA, in alliance with Pan-African Agency of Great Green Wall (PAGGW) and African Union Great Green Wall Initiative (GGWI), proudly announces our significant participation at COP28. Join us from 30 Nov - 12 Dec 2023 at DP World Pavilion, Dubai, as we strategize and strengthen our accelerated action plan. With the 2030 deadline approaching, our collective efforts are more crucial than ever.
5 Hectare of an old quarry restored with various plants by GGWoA, DEFCCS and ASERGMV in Senegal
The Great Green Wall of Africa Foundation (GGWoA), in partnership with the Senegalese Agency for Reforestation and the Great Green Wall (ASERGMV) and the Department of Water, Forests, Hunting and Soil Conservation (DEFCCS), restored and planted trees on 5ha of a former quarry this Sunday. A variety of 2.5 to 3m high seedlings of species best suited to quarry rehabilitation, such as Acacia seyal , nilotica and senegalensis, and native species from the area such as khaya senegalensis, baobab and jujifis mauritiania, were planted in the Thies classified forest to help combat flooding in the city of and combat climate change.
